This beautiful Japanese woodblock print by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) is in excellent condition. No tears, holes, creases or stains. According to the previous owner and his family history, this piece most likely dates back to the 1930's as it belonged to the gentleman's uncle who traveled through Hawaii and Japan during the late 1920's/early 1930's before reaching his final destination which was Shanghai China. The previous owner says that most likely this piece was purchased by his uncle during his trip in the 1930's. I've taken photos of all the markings on this piece, so for those of you who know alot about woodblock prints, you may be able to detect the year in which this piece was made. I am only capable of sharing the information I have at hand. This piece measures 10-1/4" wide (measuring the complete piece including the white border) and is 15-1/8" long. |
