Description "Taigetsu" or "Machizuki" (Waiting for the Moon). Beauty is waiting for the rise of the full moon from a balcony. The outside is abstract gray space, but the upper left area seems to be faintly lightening, and the pale light is cast on her left shoulder. The original painting is in the collection of The Adachi Art Museum. Shoen Uemura, (not to be confused with Shoen Ikeda 1888 - 1917 who was regarded as the leading female painter of Eastern Japan), was a highly respected female painter of Western Japan. Shoen became the first woman to receive the Order of Cultural Merit from the Japanese government in 1948. Carver Matsuda Torazo. Printer Sato Keizo. Paper maker Isano Ichibei.
