Woodblock print kuchi-e artist and magazine illustrator. His works are often mistakenly attributed to the more famous artist Ito Shinsui.

Tekisui was a student of the master Kaburagi Kiyokata. His real name was Yoshijiro. Born in Tokyo in June 1882 . In 1901, Tekisui moved to Kyobashi Kobiki-cho , where he studied under Kiyokata during the Kobiki-cho era and became a student next to Ryokusui Hayashi . He is known to have exhibited his work at the 10th Karasukai Exhibition in November 1904 . In May 1906, he exhibited at the 5th Art Research Society Exhibition, at the 14th Karasuai Exhibition in October of the same year, and at the Japan Art Association. After that, he exhibited the artwork "Ayaito" at the 9th Tatsugakai Exhibition in June 1909 . In addition, Tekisui was in charge of illustrations for the Yomiuri Shimbun from 1912 .

In addition to participating in the Karasukai formed by Kiyokata et al., Tekisui drew illustrations for " Shufu no Tomo " at the time of the first issue, including "Autumn leaves of Uzuki" and "Tamba", which were interviewed by Chikamatsu due to the influence of the Karasukai. In exhibitions of the local society by the students of Kiyokata , "First Tone" was exhibited in the 2nd exhibition in May 1916, and then " Twilight " was exhibited in the 8th exhibition in March 1923 . "Yanagibashi" was exhibited at the 11th exhibition in May 1930 , and "Nobe" was exhibited at the 15th exhibition in June 1930.
[Wiki]
