Nishimura Hodo Japanese Original Woodblock Print Golden Pheasant Publication Date - 1937.
Publisher for these Hodo Nishimura prints was Takemura Hideo. They were created in the late 1930s in traditional woodblock technique. We had never heard of Hodo Nishimura until the year 2003 when the famous collector and art dealer Robert O. Muller passed away and a huge collection of first class shin hanga came into the market. Hodo Nishimura came into the awareness of collectors of Japanese prints mainly with kacho-e, prints depicting flowers. Woodblock prints showing animals are rather rare by the artist. |
