Title Arranging Hair After a Bath - rare - Artist Hakuho Hirano 1879-1957 Description A beauty is arranging hair after a bath. Typical Hakuho's bijin prints with muted colors. Fine pink gradations around the contour of the body. Hakuho was an accomplished Nihon-ga painter. He made only six recorded bijin-ga (depicting beautiful women) prints. Two of them were shown in the famed Toledo Exhibition in 1936. The alluring "bijin" (the beauty) prints in Shin Hanga period have been the highlight of Japanese woodblock print making tradition. Many of the originals from the period command the prices over $3000 today. Seal Artist's seal (Haku) on the lower left under the date. Dated 1932. Medium Woodblock print. Impression Excellent - very good ... Lightly embossed. Colors Excellent - very good ... Fine gradations. Condition Excellent - Very good ... Lightly creased.
