Kunitaro misei kosugi (born 1881) was a japanese artist of the first half of the 20th century. A similar watercolor painting can be seen on the internet. There is some toning due to the non acid free backing. There is a small loss on the upper right corner otherwise it is in good condition13 3/8 high20 widelesst

Misei Kosugi (Kosugi Kunitaro) (1881-1964) Born In Nikko Japan in 1881, was originally trained as a painter. In 1898 He went to Tokyo and in 1902 he was one of the founders of "Pacific Western Style Painting Society". He worked as a newspaper illustrator during the Russo-Japanese War (1904). He traveled to France with his friend Yamamoto Kanae in 1923. Later in life he returned to painting in a Japanese style. He eventually changed his name to Kosugi Hoan and moved to Nikko where a museum bears his name and houses his works.
