Notes (this edition)?
The following information was taken from the original web listing of this artwork. Note that there may be some inaccuracies:

This beautiful Japanese woodblock print is by Tomiya Oda (1895-1990). This work is an excellent example of the fine bijn-ga prints (beautiful woman prints) produced by shin hanga artists. Oda was an excellent, but not prolific artist. This is an excellent example of his work. I have seen the print titled “woman Enjoying the Evening Cool”, but I am not sure if that is its formal title. In any case it is a beautiful print. It is a large oban print, measuring 16” x 10” the image (17 1/4” x 10 7/8” the sheet. It is in very good to excellent condition. It is untrimmed, with no stains. There are a few very subtle creases in the upper part of the print that appear to be part of the printing process. As well, there is a very subtle mat line on the right edge that appears to have affected the green of the bench immediately above and below the fan resting on the bench. It is about 1/8” in from the edge of the image.

Artist Bio:
Oda Tomiya was a popular magazine and newspaper illustrator of the Taisho era. However, only three Tomiya "bijin-ga" woodblock prints are known to have been published, two via Osaka Woodblock Print Company and one via the publisher Adachi. All three of these prints are rarely seen on the market nowadays. He is rumoured to have published one other woodblock print scene called "Yusuzumi" (Evening Cool) via a private publisher, however I have to this date not seen even a single example of this print. Yusuzumi is mentioned in this note from a Hanga-do document ( http://www.hanga-do.com/img/Hangadomeiran104.pdf ):

版画は、刊年不明だが昭和初期頃(昭和 9 年頃)と 思われる木版画《夕涼み》(白耀社版)、《七月 夕べ》《八 月 すきや》(大阪木版社版)などの美人画の制作がある。

Yusuzumi is the act of enjoying the summer evening while cooling off outdoors at dusk after a hot summer day, or when the heat of the day has subsided.
