Pair of fabulous signed original Japanese watercolor landscape paintings by K. Terauchi depicting blooming cherry tree branches in river and bridge scenes - one in moonlight, the other after dawn or nearing sunset. The artist's work displays awesome mastery of technique, color blending and shading. The nighttime scene features branches of pink cherry blossoms and an orange and yellow lantern in front of a clear moonlit sky, with a bridge crossing the water in middle distance in a scene depicted in shades of blue and grey, highlighted by moonlight and dotted with yellow lanterns. Each painting is signed by the artist in blue in the lower right corner and features evidence of the original pencil sketch design in the background. Each of these vintage vertical paintings on thin cream-colored artist paper measures 5 1/2" by 12 1/2"; they are each framed behind glass in simple, elegant black frames measuring 6" by 13 1/8", which have some minor chips to the corners and cracks to the finish due to age.
