Snow at Shinobazu Benten Shrine / published by Tokyo Shobido / 1931
This is an exceptionally rare print. The STRONG color is more extraordinary with an unbroken 'key-line'. Notice the strength of the yellow at the top of the shrine and through out the image. Most often this is the first color to fade completely away. There is liberal use of 'bokashi' shading through out the image. Deep saturation of color on the verso with the desired 'baren' marks present.

NOTED: Light age tone. The paper size is: 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches or 26.7 x 39.4 cm. Image size is: 9 7/16 x 14 7/16 inches or 24 x 36.8 cm with full margins as published on heavy 'laid-line washi' paper. |

川瀬 巴水。1883年（明治16年）5月18日 - 1957年（昭和32年）11月7 日）。大正・昭和期の浮世絵師、版画家。1918年 （大正7年）、風景画家として世に出る。以後、数多くの木版画を発表。 衰退した日本の浮世絵版画を復興すべく吉田博らとともに新しい浮世絵版画の叙情的世界に、自然に肉薄する近代人の視点を導入することにより、独自の世界を展開した。享年74歳。 |
