Antique Japanese Watercolour of Mt Fuji, by G T Yokouchi, C.1920s

This is a beautiful western style Japanese watercolour painting of a scene of Mt Fuji, painted by the well-known Japanese watercolourist Tasuke (“G T”) Yokouchi (1870 – 1942).

On heavy art paper and signed by the artist to the lower left, it comes in it’s original beech wood frame, with a beech backing board. The painting uses a palette of muted, misty, colours, and makes a stunning addition to any room. I have had it re-mounted and the frame cleaned, and there is a paper label to the back, probably from the gallery that sold it in Japan (there is also some hand-writing above the label, in Japanese).

Condition: It is in good condition, with no spots or marks to the painting; there is some rippling to the top and bottom middle, which isn’t terribly visible. The frame is in good condition with a few marks and wear and tear.

Size: The painted area measures 19.5” (49.5cms), by 12.5” (32cms), and the frame measures 21” (54cm) by 37cm (14.5”).
