I am not sure of the original dating. Hiroshige.org suggests that this series might be lacquer paintings. A woodblock print edition was published by Matsui Eikichi in the 1896/7. It can be distinguished by the title cartouche being outside the image area, with publisher details in the bottom margin. |

Notes: Hiroshige (Albuquerque Museum, 1983) - Although signed Hiroshige Ga, only the first eleven were done by Hiroshige I; the twelfth was by Hiroshige II. Inscribed in the album which contained these 12 prints is the following: "Since these are the famous lacquer paintings (urushi-e) of the venerable Hiroshige, please take good care of them with the greatest respect." |
