Description- Offered for auction a very nice Japanese Woodblock Print signed by noted artist Tobei Kamei (1901-1977). It is titled "Woman in Profile" and is number 3/30 of a limited edition. Condition is as seen in photos above. No tears or hard creases. There is light foxing in the image with heavier foxing in the margins. It measures 9 1/2 x 14 1/4 inches. |

Kamei Tobei studied at Kyoto Kaiga Semmon Gakko. He was a founding member of the Kyoto Sosaku Hanga Kyokai. With Tomikichiro Tokuriki and Kotozuka Eiichi he established his own publishing company to support the selling of Sosaku Hanga prints. In 1953 Kamei followed an old Japanese artist tradition and changed his name - to Genbei Kamei.
