Condition The Watercolor ...Very good : Slightly creased. Slight foxing and creases on the margins. Two Trial Prints are in excellent condition.
Description Trumpet Daffodils. A preliminary watercolor done by Nisaburo Ito. Two trial prints on which the color blocks were in the process of adjustment.
These are fascinating example for the commercial process of woodblock print making from the original watercolor work.
Note Uchida Han is an important Japanese publishing company with branches in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Founded in 1919, the company is still in existence today as an active publisher of shin-hanga in addition to publishing re-strikes of Edo period ukiyo-e prints.
