Note that the seller attributes this painting to Kobayashi Kiyohiko, however the signature is that of scrolls attributed to Ishikawa Kiyohiko. It is possible that the current nine scrolls in this database by "Kiyohiko" can be separated into two groupings: Ishikawa and Kobayashi, or perhaps they are the same artist.

【小林清彦】1900-1963 東京生まれ。凸版印刷の図案募集で入選したのをきっかけに鏑木清方に入門。伊藤深水にも学ぶ。昭和6(1931)年第12回帝展に逗子の別荘地を舞台とした「湘南初夏」が初入選。第13回帝展「真夏の港」には昭和初期の流行の最先端を行く風俗をテーマにモダンな作風を見せた。 昭和38(1963) 東京都出身 |

Kiyohiko was born in Aichi Prefecture and was a student of the famous artist Kaburagi Kiyokata, suggesting he was active circa 1920s/30s/40s. Specialized in portraiture. Committee member of the Former Art Association, six selections for the Former Art Association exhibitions, one silver medal, three selections for the Nihon Gain Institute. Works purchased by the Takamatsu Imperial Family. Biographical information was taken from the Art Yearbook, 1985 (Kosaisha). 美術年鑑 1985年掲載:石川清彦は、愛知生まれで「鏑木清方・山川秀峰」の門。人物に長ける。
旧美術協会委員、旧美術協会展入選6/銀賞1、日画院入選3、高松宮家作品買上。得意 人物画、高松宮家で御買い上げの栄誉を受ける。美人画を多く描いています。 |
