Artist Bio:
Jo (active 1920 - 1930) was a shin hanga woodblock artist who specialized in depicting birds and flowers (kacho-e). Little is known of him as an individual, however, there was a resurgent interest in his exceptionally skilled designs after the death in 2003 of noted collector Robert O. Muller. A number of Jo's designs were discovered in Muller's collection. Jo's work was published by Kato Junji, and are noteworthy for their delicate composition and color schemes.
