Title Muro Temple in Snow - Trial proof print provenance: Uchida Family Archives. Artist Nisaburo Ito 1910-1988 Signature "Nisaburo Itoh" on the print. Dated Ca. 1930-50. Publisher Uchida. Medium/Technique Watercolor on paper. Impression Woodblock print. Excellent - very good. Printed on "Uchida" watermarked paper. Colors Very good. Condition Very good ... The print has some pencil indications of correction by the artist. Description The very rare original hand painting of Muro-ji temple and a trial proof with annotations by the artist. They indicate some places of the tree should be darker, etc. The exceptional and rare items for the serious Japanese woodblock print collector, who wants the fine example of the creative process of commercial print production. Note Uchida Han is an important Japanese publishing company with branches in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Founded in 1919, the company is still in existence today as an active publisher of shin-hanga in addition to publishing re-strikes of Edo period ukiyo-e prints.
