Vintage Signed Japanese Color Woodblock Print of "YOMEIMON GATE IN NIKKO."
This auction is for a framed early to mid-20th century vintage Japanese woodblock print. It is signed but anascribed by us, and titled "YOMEIMON GATE IN NIKKO." Measures about 9 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches. The print looks very good from the front, with only a few tiny spots of toning or stain within the image, visible only upon close inspection. It exhibits excellent color, and the streaks of rain add a nice effect. The margins look good, as well, with some acid browning on the extreme edges from contact with the frame. The back of the print shows the amount of bleed-through, and it also shows that there is noticeable toning from an acidic backing cardboard. The frame is a simple pine molding with some dents and dings. |
