Impression Very good … embossed.
Colors Very good.
Condition Good … light toning, a tear (1/2 inch long) on the middle of the right margin, lower right area creased, two nicks on the edge of the left margin.
Description "Five Views of Aso: Pasture" "Houboku" Semi-abstract horses graze on the pasture at Mt. Aso.
Hanjiro was a Western style painter who was renouned for his highly reduced-to-essense forms of horses. Here, his simplified colors and forms of horses blend in the surrounding rolling hills and the sky.

Artist Bio: 
The artist Sakamoto Hanjiro worked closely with Yamamoto Kanae, the founder of the sosaku hanga movement in Japan. In 1956 he was awarded with the Order of Cultural Merits.
