This is the largest M. MATSU I have seen. It is a full sheet, which is RARE because European watercolor paper was very expensive. Usually two to four painting were from one sheet of paper. Skillfully painted with an interesting angle of a Japanese garden. Beautiful highlights to the stones using 'bokashi' shading. This painting is in VERY FINE condition. NO foxing with the face and verso UNMARKED. This watercolor painting dates before 1940. The size is 32.4 x 47.9 cm or 12 3/4 x 18 7/8 inches.
