Comments: Mabuchi did a series of prints based on the Kofun Period clay funery figurines known as Haniwa. The figure is depicted with pots. It is illustrated in "Contemporary Japanese Prints" by Kawakita, plate 148, page 175.

Artist Bio: 

作家:馬渕 聖(まぶち とおる)    1920年(大正9年)生まれ、東京出身。    1994年(平成6年)歿、享年74歳。 1940年(昭和15年)東京美術学校在学中に光風会展初入選。 1941年(昭和16年)卒業制作「木版による自然物の装飾的表現」             文部省買上。 1951年(昭和26年)第7回日展に初入選。 1954年(昭和29年)日本版画協会(日版協)会員。 1957年(昭和32年)光風会会員。 1960年(昭和35年)日本版画会(日版会)創立に、             棟方志功らとともに参加。             日版協退会。 1967年(昭和42年)光風会評議員。 1971年(昭和46年)宮内庁用命により、須崎御用邸の為の             木版画4点制作。 東京美術学校工芸科図案部卒業。 日版会会長、鎌倉美術家協会理事長などを歴任。 東京、横浜、シカゴなどで個展開催多数。 シカゴ美術館、ボストン美術館など、海外美術館にも作品所蔵多数。
