Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print Beauty with Hagoita Series; Comparison of Portraits of Beauties
Beauty with Hagoita - Charming portrait of a smiling beauty holding a decorated paddle called a hagoita, traditionally used for a game similar to badminton that is played by girls at the New Year. Her hair is arranged with many floral hairpins and combs, and she wears a blue kimono with a design of a koto and flowers. A handsome design with an attractive yellow border dotted with confetti-like shapes.
Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8" Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Creasing throughout, slight soiling, slight fraying at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall. |
