Famous Shunga Design Artist: Harunobu Format: Chuban yoko-e: 7.25" x 10"
Subject: A celebrated Harunobu design with a fisherman wearing a tied cap making love to a partly clothed girl on his boat. The interest of this design is hightened by the stand of the fishing net and the net itself partially obscuring the couple's activities.
Subject illustrated in Tom and Mary Anne Evans, Shunga, at #6.4
Publisher: Privately produced
Date: late 1760's
Condition: Slight trimming at right edge. Vertical fold marks (restored). Tiny album binding holes along left edge restored. Tiny residues from a previous matting at corners and top edge on verso.
Colour: Particularly well retained, the fragile blue of the blind printed kimono of the girl still evident.
Impression: Fine on high quality paper with deep gauffrage.
