You are bidding on an original Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock print “Fish” signed by the Taisho/Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print artist Shibagaki Kosei. The print size is 11 1/8 x 10 3/4 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the lower right corner of the print. Another artist’s chop mark saying “Woodblock Print Master Shibagaki Kosei” is in the lower right border. The publisher’s chop mark and carver and printer’s chop seals are in the lower left border. Colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry paper. Except for some minor light foxing, mostly in the borders, this woodblock print is in excellent condition. It is hard to find an original Japanese woodblock print signed by Taisho/Showa woodblock print master Shibagaki Kosei in the public nowadays.
