Japanese 20th century artist Yokouchi Eirai Zan:

Artist:
The painting is signed "Yokouchi", for twentieth century Japanese artist Yokouchi Eirai Zan.

Age:
The painting is from mid 20th century.

Medium:
The painting is watercolour over faint pencil under-drawing on paper laid on heavy cardboard. Framed, but not glazed.

Size without frame:
The picture is 49 cm /19.25 inches high and 33 cm /13 inches wide.
The frame itself is 3 cm /1. 25 inches wide.

Description:
On offer here is a fine mid twentieth century watercolour on paper featuring an authentic Japanese scenery with figures ascending and descending stone steps leading to a temple gate. Beyond its fine execution and excellent condition, what characterizes this work best is its vivid colour and a delicate balance between warm and cool hues: red, green, yellow, and blue.

Condition:
The watercolour is in excellent condition. Please note, although this work is framed, it is not contained behind glass. The colours and paper appear fresh and crisp.
The rustic moulded pinewood frame is in fairly good condition with minor abrasions and signs of wear.
