| Notes (first edition)?: |
This watercolor is an original Tokubobueo KOBAYASHI ( 1884 - 1949 ). He
is known for his landscape paintings, this image is typical of his format and
perspective. Finely done, there are NO visible condition problems. The face
is unmarked and clean. The verso has remnants of paper tape from being
attached to a mat. All the colors are as strong as the day they were painted,
either late Meiji or early Taisho. His paintings rarely come to auction or are
seldom seen. This painting is a rare find and a classic Japanese rural scene.
Paper size: 6 1/2 X 12 7/8 inches.
