You are bidding on an EXTRA LARGE very beautiful and special original Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock print masterpiece “Bijin-ga” PENCIL SIGNED by the Showa Shin Hanga woodblock master Tateishi Harumi (1906-1994) IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Tateishi Harumi is a student of the great master Ito Shinsui. His special style of painting beautiful woman (Bijin) with the Shin Hanga atmosphere made him very popular in Japan ;
The print size is 20 3/4 x 15 inches, which is much larger than the traditional Shin Hanga woodblock prints. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. All four borders are intact. The artist’s chop mark and his signature are at the lower left corner. The artist’s PENCIL SIGNATURE and his chop mark are in the right corner of the bottom border. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry Washi paper. Except for some very light tape residue in the back of the four corners due to the print’s age, this original woodblock print is IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
