This is the last of the Red Lantern Shop Catalogs I will be listing. Each of the Catalogues are signed inside the front cover by "Sentaro Kondo," as well as identifying how long the Red Lantern Shop was in business when the particular Catalogue was published.
This auction is for a 1965 AUTUMN CATALOGUE of Selected Contemporary Japanese Prints, from the RED LANTERN SHOP.
The Red Lantern Shop in Kyoto, Japan services collectors around the world in both old and modern prints of all types by leading artists of the contemporary movement.
Included in this 32 page catalogue are 125 black & white photo plates or prints from artist such as: Kiyoshi Saito; Tadashi Nakayama; Kaoru Kawano; Haku Maki; Sadao Wantanabe; Yoshio Kanamori; Hideo Hagiwara; Jun'ichiro Sekino; Toru Mabuchi; and others.
There are some pen/pencil markings, such as crossing off the print numbers under the photo plate or print, as if they were marking what they wanted to purchase from a gallery or if they seen the print, and the word "out print". Additionally on page 21/22, part of the print #85 has been cut out. The bottom front cover has a mailing label I think of one time owners.
The back of the pamplet has a 1965 price list of the art works in this catalogue.
The catalogue has been read and used and other than what I have described above, it's still in great condition and a very nice reference book. |
