Description "Saotome" (Rice Planting Girl). Joshua Rome lived for twenty years in a small hamlet in the mountains near Kyoto. The farmer here bending over to plant rice in the rain, was probably one of his neighbors. It is interesting how the artist realized rain in his images. He drew exactly vertical thick lines which gave impression of the rain pouring down in thick continuous stream.
