This is a beautiful original woodblock print by noted sosaku hanga printmaker Kawano Kaoru. It is in very nice condition, with the typical minor creasing that is common to his prints. Measures about 22 x 9 1/2 inches plus full margins. Beautiful woodgrain, and liberal use of mica, giving the print a shimmery quality when illuminated. I keep finding Kawano prints I have never seen before, and this is one of the nicest yet. Pencil signed and numbered 78/300. Has paper tag affixed to the reverse side of the print, stating that the print is self-carved and self-printed by the artist. |
