Mother and Children

Artist: Harunobu
Format: Chuban tate-e: 10.75" x 7.75"

Subject: On a veranda two small boys imitating a Daimyo's cortege for their bored mother who walks behind them tying her obi. One of the boys has a broom in imitation of a feathered spear. The other has a hobby-horse.

Provenance: Seal of the Hayashi Collection, Japan. Also ex Richard Kruml, London

Date: late 1760's

Condition: Minor marks and flaws. Generally very good state.

Colour: Very good with minor oxidation

Impression: Fine with extensive gauffrage
