TWILIGHT AT KIBA LUMBER YARD…by KAWASE HASUI…1883-1957…please examine all photos closely. I believe the marks to be original and accurate. In addition to these marks, there is the number 77 in pencil on both the mounting board and the mat and the print is titled in pencil on the mounting board…'KIBA TWILIGHT by Hasui one of Japans foremost artists' .This print image is about 9 1/2" by 14 1/4" on a 10 1/2" by 15" paper. It is adhered at the corners to a 13" by 20" piece of light mat board (?).I would doubt this to be archival and would recommend remounting. I believe this was rematted some time back as the result of a tear in the upper left corner of this print. The missing piece measures about 1" x 1" x 3/4"…only a very small portion of this is in the image. |

川瀬 巴水。1883年（明治16年）5月18日 - 1957年（昭和32年）11月7 日）。大正・昭和期の浮世絵師、版画家。1918年 （大正7年）、風景画家として世に出る。以後、数多くの木版画を発表。 衰退した日本の浮世絵版画を復興すべく吉田博らとともに新しい浮世絵版画の叙情的世界に、自然に肉薄する近代人の視点を導入することにより、独自の世界を展開した。享年74歳。 |
