Blue Bird and Wild Grape Vine by Rakuzan Tsuchiya
Beautiful woodblock from Rakuzan's most famous series birds and flowers. The bright beauty of the Autumn leaves curves around the bird in flight. All colors are strong and vibrant. A striking example of Rakuzan's amazing talent. Rakuzan is noted for the attention he paid to detail in his woodblocks. His designs used subtly colored inks, layered by the use of many woodblocks, to make just one print. For instance, each leaf is shaded in at least three to six different colors. The spines of the leaf are picked out in gofun (a special white pigment).
