Shunga: The Mannekin Voyeur #2

Artist: Harunobu
Format: Chuban yoko-e: 8.25" x 10.75"

Subject: From Harunobu's famous series of Spring pictures (shunga), featuring a miniature voyeur. The example shows a young bijin, who is administering moxa treatment to her mother while a young blade penetrates her from the rear. The mannekin disconsolately shaving his leg with a razor.

Publisher: Privately produced

Date: c. 1760's

Condition: Very slightly trimmed at top edge. Laid down on Japanese paper. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally fine state of preservation.

Colour: Fine. The extremely fugitive blue pigment still fresh.

Impression: Fine with gauffrage
