32 Aspects of Women: #16 Looking 'Itchy'

Artist: Yoshitoshi
Format: Oban tate-e: 14" x 9.5" approx

Subject: #16 A concubine from the Kaei era (1848/54) emerging with naked breasts from bedding overhung with mosquito nets. From the series, Thirty-two Aspects of Customs and Manners of Women, which we shall be auctioning in its entirety over the next few weeks.

Publisher: Tsunashima Kamekichi

Date: 1888

Condition: Very slightly trimmed. Laid down on album backing, as issued. Some minor offsetting on left and at base. Paper thinned at left edge. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally very good state.

Colour: Fine

Impression: Fine 1st edition with 3-color title cartouche. Stevenson illustrates a state with bokashi at the top edge, which this example lacks.
