Album of the Seasons and Their Fashions (12 Prints)

Format: Oban yoko-e Album of 12 prints plus Content page: 9.5" x 13.75"

Subject: Illustrated is #9 from the set (being sold as a complete set including the decorative title page, 13 prints). 'Autumn - the bright tint of Maple foliage'. Subject illustrated and detailed in 'The New Wave' Prints from the Robert O. Muller Collection, page 92, #55.

Condition: Externally: Concertina album format with silk gold brocade covered boards. Minor wear and marks. Internally: Very clean. Minor wormage to plate 12 in top margin. All with usual centerfold. Minor stains, marks and flaws. Overall very good

Colour: Fine

Impression: Very fine with extensive use of metallic pigments.

Series Information: 
Toshikata was commissioned to create a series of 12 domestic scenes when Mitsui Clothing Store (Mitsui Gofuku) changed its name from Echigoya in 1893 (Today, Mitsui is one of Japan's largest corporations). This collection was released once more in 1904 when the store became known as Mitsukoshi. The edition by "Mitsukoshi" was featured in the reference book of the Muller Collection. Most examples of this print are folded, having originally been bound into a book format.
