ORIGINAL WOODBLOCK BY UMETARO AZECHI(1902-1999) TITLE: MOUNTAINEER WITH COMPASS, TITLED IN JAPANESE ON VERSO . POLYCHROME IMPRESSION. SIZE 12 1/2" X 17 1/2", PUBLISHED IN 1954, CARVED, PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY THE ARTIST. EDITION 50 PRINTS OF WHICH THIS PRINT IS #33. SIGNED IN PENCIL AT THE BOTTOM 54 U. AZCECHI 33/50, WITH ARTIST RED SEAL AT RIGHT. CONDITION: VERY GOOD, COLOR AND IMPRESSION VERY GOOD. NEVER LAID DOWN. SLIGHT SOILING TO RIGHT AND LEFT BOTTOM BUT NOT BAD, SMALL BLUE INK STAIN FROM PRINTER AT TOP RIGHT MARGIN, LARGE WATER STAIN TOP LEFT CORNER ABOVE HEAD, TAPE RESIDUE ENTIRE TOP ON VERSO AND TWO SMALL TAPE MARKS TO LEFT AND RIGHT ON VERSO.
