ORIGINAL WOODBLOCK PRINT BY UMETARO AZECHI (1902-1999), TITLE: TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN (UP THE MOUNTAIN ?) PUBLISHED IN 1956 CARVED, PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY THE ARTIST, SIZE 13 1/8 X 19 1/4. EDITION OF 50 OF WHICH THE PRINT IS #22. SIGNED IN PENCIL 56 22/50 U. AZECHI WITH ARTIST RED SEAL AT RIGHT. TITLED IN JAPENESE AND ENGLISH ON THE REVERSE. CONDTION: VERY GOOD, COLOR AND IMPRESSION FINE, PRINT HAS TAPE AND GLUE RESIDUE ACROSS TOP OF REVERSE, NEVER LAID DOWN. REFERENCE: PICTURED IN MODERN JAPANESE PRINTS BY HELEN MERRITT, PUBLISHED BY UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII PRESS, FIRST PRINTING 1990. THIS IS A WONDERFUL AND RARE PRINT OF WHICH ONE OF THE 50 IS IN THE SAN FRANCISO MUSEUM OF MODERN ART.
