You are bidding on a very beautiful and rare Japanese woodblock print signed by the famous Shin-Hanga artist Hasui Kawase (1883-1957). The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the lower left corner of the print. There are chop marks in the lower right border, which says the title of this woodblock print. The size of this woodblock print is 15 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. There is a minor horizontal crease at about 1/3 of the print from the top edge of the print, four minor vertical creases in the middle of this print, a couple very small tears at the left edge in the border, one wrinkle at the middle of the right border, and one wrinkle at the top right edge in the border, one small repair in the back of the print due to the print’s age. |

川瀬 巴水。1883年(明治16年)5月18日 - 1957年(昭和32年)11月7 日)。大正・昭和期の浮世絵師、版画家。1918年 (大正7年)、風景画家として世に出る。以後、数多くの木版画を発表。 衰退した日本の浮世絵版画を復興すべく吉田博らとともに新しい浮世絵版画の叙情的世界に、自然に肉薄する近代人の視点を導入することにより、独自の世界を展開した。享年74歳。 |
