I have great pleasure in presenting this gorgeous original Sanzo Wada 1950's woodblock print. I have seen 1 print like this that was entitled "Fishermans House". I will be continuing to list 3 more different prints by Sanzo Wada in the next day of two. This print is mounted on archival board, measuring 11 1/2 x 15 1/4" untrimmed, no toning to edges or damage of any kind. Sanzo Wada's signature and seal is in lower right corner and along the lower right margin vertically is the publisher's seal "Kyoto Hanga-In" and below it is the printer's seal of Suri Ono Gintaro who was a well known printer and was 1 of Watanbe Publishing House Master Printers 1943-1947. This print and the other 3 I will be listing are from the 3rd series published in the 50's by Kyoto Hanga-In entitled "Continuing Japanese Vocations in Pictures" and issued in a limited-edition series with the earliest date being 1954 and the latest date 1956. Sanzo Wada (1883-1967) prints have been exhibited around the world and are on display in many gallerys but eventually he went to Japanese costume design and won an Academy Award in 1954. |
