Kaoru Kawano Woodblock HAIR Signed #21/300
At a recent estate sale I bought several woodblock prints by Kaoru Kawano. He died in 1965. He was a self taught Woodblock artist and his work becoming more and more collectible. The large framed and matted print is entitled HAIR. It is signed in pencil on the print and on the back. The back says Self Printed, Self Carved Kaoru Kawano. This has the Kaigado Frames sticker on the back. I have not opened the picture. I see no damage to the print.

Kaoru Kawano was a very popular artist for his distinctively styled depictions of figures, especially children. He uses the wood grain patterns to lender the textures and the mood to the works.
