Double Album Plate: The Engawa

Artist: Harunobu
Format: 7" x 10.75" overall

Subject: A courtesan wearing a bathing robe, stands on the engawa of a house, her fan on the decking at her feet. Behind her a mirror draped with a discarded towel. An enchanting and early Harunobu design.

Date: c. 1760

Condition: Slightly faded, trimmed and soiled. Rubbed. Laid down on album backing paper. Fair state of preservation.

Impression: Very good impression.
