This charming woodblock print by Kaoru Kawano is a profile of a young girl in red ink, with eyes closed, tilted head, and her head resting on her suspended arm. The background is black. It is signed in pencil, "Kaoru Kawano, along the bottom margin, and has a chop mark in red, lower right, as well.  The woodblock measures 11 1/4" x 8 3/8, has full margins, in good condition. En verso is stamped "MADE IN JAPAN". The right vertical margin is deckle edged.

Artist Bio: 
Kaoru Kawano was a very popular artist for his distinctively styled depictions of figures, especially children. He uses the wood grain patterns to lender the textures and the mood to the works.
