A Sudden Shower Artist: Terukata Format: Oban yoko-e: 10" x 14.25" approx
Subject: A bijin walking along the bank of the Sumida river sheltering from a sudden shower of rain.
Ikeda Terukata was a pupil of Mizuno Toshikata and later of Kawai Gyokudo, whose name he eventually took. He received many prizes at exhibitions and his favorite subjects were bijin (beautiful women).
Date: c.1920's
Condition: Full size. Paper toned and foxed. Minor marks and flaws. Generally moderate state.
Colour: Very good
Impression: Very good with deep gauffrage for the rain
