Two Cranes
Woodblock Print, made in Japan The Crane appear in a mating dance, their heads and beaks in close proximity. The background shows detail of the woodblock grain, a good backdrop to the decorative detail of the birds' bodies and their tawny and warm red color. Fine mica is used on the birds, apparent when seen in the light. The condition is excellent, both front and back. A very attractive print and low reserve. Sealed in red. Size: 11.25 x 16.75 inches paper size. Condition: In excellent condition, both front and back.

Kaoru Kawano was a very popular artist for his distinctively styled depictions of figures, especially children. He uses the wood grain patterns to lender the textures and the mood to the works.
