アメリカのPacific Transport Lines社がカレンダー製作のため渡邊版画店へ依頼した未流通・非売品の希少木版画です。
この企業依頼品シリーズは非売品でほとんど海外に流出しており、日本の販売店やオークションではまず出回る事が大変少ない作品です。
限定非売品の初摺りのみしか摺られておらず、これ以降後刷りなども摺られていませんので大変貴重な作品になります。

This is a very beautiful woodblock print by noted shin hanga printmaker Kawase Hasui. The print is oban size, about 14 1/4 x 9 1/2 plus full margins. Entitled "Skirt of Mt. Fuji"; dates from the 1940s; early impression, never reprinted. This print was published without Watanabe publisher's seals (this was the case with all prints of this image; none bore any Watanabe seals). Signed lower right. A very rare print; this is the first time I recall seeing this image on ebay. Beautiful color, impression and condition.

川瀬 巴水。1883年（明治16年）5月18日 - 1957年（昭和32年）11月7 日）。大正・昭和期の浮世絵師、版画家。1918年 （大正7年）、風景画家として世に出る。以後、数多くの木版画を発表。 衰退した日本の浮世絵版画を復興すべく吉田博らとともに新しい浮世絵版画の叙情的世界に、自然に肉薄する近代人の視点を導入することにより、独自の世界を展開した。享年74歳。 |
