アメリカのPacific Transport Lines社がカレンダー製作のため渡邊版画店へ依頼した未流通・非売品の希少木版画です。
この企業依頼品シリーズは非売品でほとんど海外に流出しており、日本の販売店やオークションではまず出回る事が大変少ない作品です。
限定非売品の初摺りのみしか摺られておらず、これ以降後刷りなども摺られていませんので大変貴重な作品になります。

This is a very rare original oban size, limited edition shin hanga Japanese woodblock print by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) titled "Skirt of Mt. Fuji" (Nazaraki #453), signed/sealed in the image by the artist. The print was commissioned by Pacific Transport Line and published by Watanabe Shozaburo. Five hundred copies of this print were produced for a special gift calendar in 1952.
The print is in overall very good condition. Fine impression, excellent color, registration and bleedthrough. No foxing, toning, folds or creases. The print is not setdown or trimmed. This print has never been framed. The only flaw is two very light red ink marks at the lower right corner of the print. The closeup of the sui seal shows these marks. Paper size is 10" x 15". A very rarely seen Hasui woodblock print.

川瀬 巴水。1883年（明治16年）5月18日 - 1957年（昭和32年）11月7 日）。大正・昭和期の浮世絵師、版画家。1918年 （大正7年）、風景画家として世に出る。以後、数多くの木版画を発表。 衰退した日本の浮世絵版画を復興すべく吉田博らとともに新しい浮世絵版画の叙情的世界に、自然に肉薄する近代人の視点を導入することにより、独自の世界を展開した。享年74歳。 |
