Notes (this edition)?
The following information was taken from the original web listing of this artwork. Note that there may be some inaccuracies:

Saturday, 14 January 2006

"Kasuga Shrine, Nara" by Kawase Hasui. This is an original, early edition Japanese woodblock print made in 1933, published by Watanabe Shozaburo. There is a Watanabe C seal in the lower right margin, which is the earliest publisher's seal for this particular design. The Watanabe C seal was used from 1929 to 1942.

This print is in very good overall condition. The colors are slightly different from the print pictured in the 2005 Hasui catalogue raisonne. This print has more of an orange tone to the temple buildings, which may indicate slight fading of the reds or simply a color variation. The remaining colors are still strong. There is some very light toning in the upper margin and on the back. The print is unmounted and has full margins. The size of the print is oban, about 10 x 15 inches plus margins.
