Haku Maki Print - Poem 71-52 - Bold Red Print

Fine Japanese woodblock cement print by Haku Maki (1924- ), famous for his prints made with raised relief using cement relief built up on blocks of wood or cardboard (See Merritt and Yamada, p. 85). This one is titled in pencil in lower margin: 48/154 and Poem, 71-52 (445). At the very bottom margin in pencil is: W9-25-23 and I don t know the significance of this, if any. Signed in pencil lower right beneath image Haku Maki. Sealed in image (see picture). The pictures were taken in a raking light so you can appreciate the raised relief of the round black spot, and the blue mark below it. The red areas and the yellow spot are also printed in raised relief. DIMENSIONS: Image 17" x 10 ½" ; sheet size 19 ½" x 12 13/16" . Condition is very good; the sheet is attached at the four corners to a backing sheet of thin paper; there are also minor abrasions on the front four corners from an earlier mounting. Otherwise in excellent condition.
