This is a vintage wood block print, not an original wood block. It is a gorgeous print that was professionally framed in the 1950’s and is ready to hang. I have no idea how old the print actually is. The print inside the matting measures 9¾ x 7¼ inches. The overall dimensions of the framed picture is 15½ x 13½. On the backing of the picture frame is marked, “Original woodcut print by Uchida Hide “Takao Nishiki” (Autumn in Takao).” There are no flaws that I can find. I have 2 other similar items.

Kamei Tobei studied at Kyoto Kaiga Semmon Gakko. He was a founding member of the Kyoto Sosaku Hanga Kyokai. With Tomikichiro Tokuriki and Kotozuka Eiichi he established his own publishing company to support the selling of Sosaku Hanga prints. In 1953 Kamei followed an old Japanese artist tradition and changed his name - to Genbei Kamei.
