KAMEI TOBEI (1901-1977) Authentic woodblock print by the Kyoto artist Kamei Tobei. This particular print is of Shorei-matsuri, a bonfire on Mt. Daimonji in Kyoto. it measures 3.75 x 5.75 inches. It is in excellent condition, tipped to card stock. Sealed Kamei.

Kamei Tobei studied at Kyoto Kaiga Semmon Gakko. He was a founding member of the Kyoto Sosaku Hanga Kyokai. With Tomikichiro Tokuriki and Kotozuka Eiichi he established his own publishing company to support the selling of Sosaku Hanga prints. In 1953 Kamei followed an old Japanese artist tradition and changed his name - to Genbei Kamei.
